Okay, okay, before I ruin the ending, let me tell you a little backstory…
MAY 7, 2017
9:30 am Lauryn browses the internet for anniversary surprise. Gets excited when she realizes shipping will get here by anniversary day on the 14th. I also thought about how I needed to get (this) a blogpost up for the next week with the bridal photos we took.
12:00 pm Spencer says, “one week to anniversary!” We both smile and say I love you! It has been almost three years!
MAY 8, 2017
Spencer and I both receive a group text from my mom. She is definitely a little worried.
MOM, 10:28 pm: Happy anniversary!! Sorry we are both late wishers!! Love you both very much!
ME: You’re early wishers! It’s on May 14th!
ME: Thank you for remembering!
MOM: Darn. I couldn’t remember but then saw something on Facebook for the 8th and panicked. Okay, I’ll try again later. 🙂
Spencer and both grinned at each other and confirmed that our anniversary was the following week.
MAY 9, 2017
When I leave for work, I notice that my parents had come to decorate our door with a cute collage and notes saying happy anniversary.
10:00 am Spencer text me and says, “was our anniversary actually yesterday?
10:15 am I think about that necklace I have with our wedding date on it… it does have an eight on it…
10:16 am I text the group text (mom and Spencer): Wait, I think our anniversary WAS yesterday?!
It happened. Spencer and I both forgot our anniversary day! You often hear of one person in a married couple forgetting an anniversary. Usually they forget all together. Not Spence and I, instead, we both forgot the actual date and thought it was a week later. We think this is because we were married on May 8, 2014 and we confused the year with the day. At least it was both of us!
In the end, the presents didn’t matter because we are going to Europe at the end of May to celebrate, and loooove and laughter is all you need to keep a marriage happy!
