You know those days that you just feel, oomph?
Well here is a guide to making your life sparkle everyday.
It took me a while to figure out why somedays I felt on fire, brilliant, and accomplished, and yet other days I felt cold, dull, and unproductive. Once I figured it out, each of my “on” days came down to these five simple things:
3. HAVE AN OPINION Want to know the number one pet peeve of guys? (this was taken from a highly inaccurate, and definitely informal poll from past dates, ex-boyfriends, and my current husband). A girl without any idea of what she wants is a huge turn off! However, men love a women who knows where she is going in life, what she wants to do with her assets and talents, has knowledge enough to have a take on what is going on in the world, and most definitely knows what she wants for dinner and what movie to watch.
Have you ever hung out with someone that always says “I don’t know?” when you ask the weighted question of, “What should we do?” HOW badly do you just want to shove that person out of your moving car? (okay, drastic). Don’t be that person that is being shoved out of a moving car. Having ideas, thoughts, and an opinion that you are willing to talk about doesn’t just make you sparkle, it makes you shine. (And also makes the boys buy you diamonds. Shine bright like a diamond).
4. FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT That is the true key to confidence. Cockiness is when you have an unreasonable amount of belief in yourself and like to share about it. Confidence, however, is silent. (Thank you Sami for such a great term! ) Confidence is something that doesn’t just exist. Confidence must be built. It is the cousin to bravery; brave people aren’t without fear, they just don’t balk in the face of fear. Same with confidence. Whenever you are faced with something, or someone, “out of your league” you just simply fake the belief in yourself until everyone else believes it too. Build your confidence until it is real.
5. BE THE COMPETITION, BUT DON’T COMPETE Say what?! Let me explain… always be on your game. Always be the first to respond, always be the first to volunteer, always try your best. Not only does this determination set you apart from others, but it will fuel your fire for whatever passion you have. Don’t compete with others though. I love the quote, “A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it, it just blooms.” Basically, you do you. THE BEST YOU. Compete with yourself, and you will have a mega sparkle.

January 6, 2015Such beautiful suggestions! Doing something for others is one of the keys for me, and being the moment. It is so easy to get lost in day to day activities that we forget to enjoy the little things that can make us feel alive. An example, probably silly but it really resonated with me, is taking my lab for a walk one spring day. I do this every day, but one day he happened to notice the ducks swooping down close to us as they landed on the creek we were walking by. Now, I was surprised by his reaction because he was obviously really seeing them for the first time, he stopped and just wanted to watch. Normally, I would have encouraged him to keep walking because I had things to do and never took in what he was seeing. That day it stopped me in my tracks, and so we stopped and sat down by the creek, and I enjoyed watching him observe the ducks with new eyes. We were only there for about 10 minutes, but it felt so good to see my pup happy and it made me happy in turn. Peace! 🙂

January 6, 2015You had me at pup! Love other dog lovers! They really help us see things through different eyes. Not a silly example at all! (Try taking him on a hike– now that is something! The exploration is so fun to watch)
