Relaxed Neutrals

Okay, so sometimes I don’t always choose the most flattering outfits for my body type. These joggers for instance? They look way better on a slim straight (rectangle) figure. But fashion is all about taking risks.

But I get such a thrill out of planning new outfits.

When I was younger I used to set out my school outfit every night before bed. I remember trying on item after item until there was a final “no” pile stacked on my closet floor. There were days when I went to school and I knew that I was beaming with confidence because I felt good. Other times, I shrunk in my first period seat as I realized the combo just wasn’t working for me.

In fact, this happened just the other day! I made the terrible, but often overlooked, mistake of wearing a dark bra under a white shirt. In my mirror at home it looked great! The lighting was just dull enough to conceal my obvious misfortune. Once I got under the florescent lights at the retail store where I worked, my undergarments told another story. I ended up buying another shirt just so I didn’t feel uncomfortable approaching customers with my arms folded across my chest.

Anyway, what I am getting at is you can dress for your body type all you want, but unless you feel great, it doesn’t matter! Wearing these dark wash joggers from Madison & Sixth made me feel at home. I was comfortable. While wearing them I felt confident and cute without all the glamour usually required for a lunch date. 

Sometimes you just need to find that sweet sport between classy and comfy that suits you, and wear it.
