Tips to get Into Fashion Week
Book Way Ahead of Time
By this, I mean months in advance. Plane tickets and hotel bookings surge a month before, and then a week before the events take place. Not to mention it is over the weekend of September 11th. Save yourself a headache and your wallet by booking sooner rather than later. The first time I went to Fashion Week, it felt like I was winging it and hoping to hit a home run the whole time. You’ll feel a bit uncomfortable, but it will work out! Here is an article I wrote about what to expect at New York Fashion Week.
Be Prepared to be Unprepared
It’ll be about a week before and you still might not know what the plan is. Don’t stress. For NYFW, you just have to go with the flow and hope that everything works out! You will probably not hear back from the PR contact until two weeks before, and then get your seating arrangement until a week or less before. When I booked my plane ticket, I didn’t even know if I was getting into any shows. However, going as a blogger was 100% worth the taking the leap to go to Fashion Week!
Sign Up For GPS Radar
GPS Radar is a website where media and fashion events are posted. You can request an invite to events directly on the website and the requests are sent to the correct PR agency. Be sure to sign up with your business email address and complete your profile!
Contact Designers Hosting Runways/Shows
Well, you won’t get ahold of the designers, per se, but their public relations or marketing personnel will be there for you! Email them and let them know that you’ll be at New York Fashion Week and you would love to come to the show. You’ll definitely have to do your homework to find which designers are having runways or presentations, and then also find their PR/Contact page.
Find Others Going; Trade Contacts
This was such a huge help for me this season! I found a lot of other bloggers going, and we all teamed up and helped each other out! I gave them contacts to the shows I was going to, and vice versa. Share, share, share. Like I said above, share! I found that if I offered information to someone else, they always returned the favor. It was especially helpful when I was in a bind and I had already helped a sistahh out! Every Fashion Week, I stay with 5+ other women. We love to discuss details, link of schedules, and share rides!
Join a Fashion Week Facebook Group
Many times, a group of influencers and business owners going will have created a #NYFW page on Facebook. JJoin a group and hear about all the fun meet-ups, what shows people are going to, and get more information as well as share yours!
Tag Brands That are Hosting Events
Want to go to a specific designer? Tag them in your Instagram photos (of you wearing their clothing) or link back to them on your blog! Chances are, their PR team will scout you out and invite you to a show… if they invite you, you are a “VIP” and get front row seats! Even more fun are the brand events at Fashion Week. Make sure you are tagging your favorites on Instagram and your blog so that they notice you and invite you to their parties! Additionally, most designers use a PR firm to set up their shows and vet people to invite. Make sure you are following NYFW etiquette so that you continue to be on the invite list for years to come!

September 25, 2016This is definitely on my bucket list! The closest I've gotten so far is watching the highlights on E!, CNN and collecting magazines. Your ensemble is beautiful. I like that this was even a storyline on the sitcom, "The Class" when a husband character was desperately looking for the perfect gift for his wife.

October 3, 2016You are the cutest! Watching the highlights is more than most people do. You deserve to go for that kind of dedication.

October 11, 2016I love your look here. It's so fun and flirty. It reminds me of the black ensemble Paula Abdul wore in her music video for "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow".
