Let’s all give a hand to my husband who continuously takes my pictures. With the new weather and daylight, fashion blog pictures get super tricky.
We have about an hour window (around 4:15- 5:15) when the photos turn out like they should. Neither of us are professional photographers. In fact, we have only been using our DSLR Cannon (oldddd) TI for about a year and a half now. Since we aren’t professionals, and since we don’t have one of those fancy “touch-screen focusing” cameras, lighting is everything. Add in there rainy and/or slushy days that cover the sun with dark, dark clouds, and we are lucky to get good pictures.
Some of you may be surprised to learn that outfit pictures are taken in succession. With a full time job, and my husband working part time and going to school full time, we would never have time to take pictures every. single. day. Instead, we take a day once a week and take 3-4 outfits. In fact, I don’t know any of my friends that are bloggers that DON’T do that. The outfits we shoot I have either worn recently, or I have prepped for my next outing when it comes along. This is how we achieve my true “style” in outfits, while being able to maintain busy schedules.
These boots from Maude immediately caught my eye while I was browsing their website. Pointy-toe booties are super chic and remind me of a wicked witch. I feel so bad A when I wear them! It seems I don’t even venture down the skinny heel territory anymore. Most of my shoes have a similar thick heel on them, which makes them more comfortable and easier to walk in! I sized up on them because they don’t offer half sizes, and because the boot shaft does not have a zipper and must be pulled on. You need these Seychelles Accordion booties from Maude in your closet now.
Of course, I love to build my outfits around items I found thrifting, which is the case here as well. Both the Lilly White velvet shirt and The Loft green skirt were found at Uptown Cheapskate for killer deals! The beautiful caftan offers the softer side to the outfit. I don’t like to look too stern or put together, and adding the chiffon RAGA caftan to the outfit was the perfect piece to create that subdued effect. I feel like I could wear this over an outfit in the fall or spring, to the beach, or out to a fancy dinner! It is a versatile clothing item!

October 15, 2016I love your color combination. The ankle boots are classic. You could pair up your two layered tops with just about any color skirt.
