Jeans are such a staple in my closet that I have at least 7 blue pairs in different shades. It was difficult to come to terms with Casual Friday at work (the only day jeans are allowed) because of my love for the closet essential. Not only are Fridays my favorite because they mean the beginning of the weekend (Saturdays come in second because Spencer works that night serving at The Roof downtown *sad face*, and well, it means one less weekend night) and they also mean denim work outfits. Usually they are paired with a college shirt as I try to brainwash my students into going to college.
I wish I was the “stylish teacher” that wore these kind of outfits to school, but my comfort level usually gets the best of me when I think about walking down the mile long halls and making clickity-clack sounds disturbing innocent classes.
In order to up my style game at school (jokes, people!) I changed my hair. It’s okay, I won’t fault you for not noticing, I am kind of a pansy when it comes to my hair. I went with a balayage in order to bring out my inner California girl. The week after we visited California I new it was time to get the locks done and convinced Spencer it was a worthy expenditure. I also tried to get him to call me “Sun Bum” but he wasn’t on board with that. “You can’t nickname yourself,” proclaimed the self-appointed nickname aficionado. “Whatever,” I said, and continued to refer to myself as Sun Bum. After getting a tan with my swim bottom’s tag sticking out, it was definitely a fitting title.
