Eye of the Beholder

“The sign of a beautiful person is that they always see the beauty in others.”

I have found this quote to be so true as I have gotten older. It was hard for me to see past anything but outer beauty when I was younger. I looked up to those that were the most popular, the prettiest, that had the best clothing. As I am reaching my quarter-century age, I feel that my views on beauty have become more refined. I have realized that I want to not only surround myself with pretty people, but also people that are beautiful on the inside.

There is a pull towards those that build others up. I call them “business-wing-woman”. Hopefully you have one in your life and you know what I am talking about. These are the ladies in your life that recommend your skills in passing to others that could benefit. These are the women that listen to your crazy ideas and say, “Let’s do it!” These are the people that support you on the good days, the bad days, and the nothin’ but normal days. They don’t love you because of the clothes you wear, the makeup you use, or even the money you own. These people love you for yourself.

Now that it’s birthday month (November 23 – a Sagittarius), I have started to reflect on who I want to be at 25. I have decided I want to be one of these women.

 I wan to be the woman that sees the beauty in others and builds them up, to help others see it too.
