Why I Choose Cotton… Even for the Cold Months.

Chillier temps are upon us, which means it’s time to bring out the sweaters again! I often have a hard time with warmer clothing because of the way they breathe or feel. I am now trying to switch many of my staples with clothing that I find comfortable for both work and play, without sacrificing their aesthetic. My relationship with cotton is well documented and so it makes sense to use cotton staples to make my closet more versatile!

Here’s a few of the things I’ve incorporated into my winter wardrobe:

This Striped Sweater:

Sweaters, stripes, and flexible color pattern, are all things I look for as a fall staple. My husband tells me I have too many sweaters for one person to even wear in a season. To that I say: is that even possible?

I haven’t even told you the best part about cotton sweaters yet: no itch! If there is one thing I can’t stand it’s having to sacrifice my comfort to feel like I look good. That’s why I use the uncompromising comfort of cotton when it comes to sweaters and everything underneath.

Apart from cotton being easy to care for, this piece is also essential fall style right off the rack. Pair this sweater with an oversized jean jacket, colored denim, and boots for a weekday evening set.

And these Green Pants:

If you were wondering if they were also made of cotton, you’d be right. Jeans and cotton, name a more iconic duo, I’ll wait…

Again, comfort is paramount when selecting jeans and leg wear. These  jeans have the perfect stretch that allows for them to work just as hard as you do.

This shade of green works to complement a brightly colored top, or anchor a color scheme. Traditionally green as a color is associated with spring and summer, but muted green and olive tones appeal to fall shoppers like me who obsesses over striking jackets and other layered statement pieces during colder months.

If you are looking for other cotton items to incorporate into your home, make sure your  bedding, towels, and of course socks, are made with high-quality cotton.

I love cotton during the winter. You’re right – there’s no itch! That’s the most important factor for me. I hate itchy knits, especially when they cling to my skin under thick coats!
