10 Ways to use Double Sided Fashion Tape

Pocket knives and multi-tools are marketed to men as the all-in-one solution that they should carry with them no matter what. Why do men get all the useful all-in-one tools? What important versatile tools do women use on a daily basis? When I think about what I consider essential, I immediately think about purse space. What do you carry in your purse? As a minimalist, I only make space in my bag for the most important, versatile, and valuable items that I need day to day. Anything in my purse has got to earn the space, not be too heavy, bulky or loud to carry around. Phone, keys, and wallet obviously qualify, but next to those items the list of essentials isn’t so easy to define. For me, Fearless Tape has got to be at the top of that list. Discreet, convenient, and useful I find new uses for double sided fashion tape every day. Here are 10 ways to use double sided tape for clothes and skin. (P.S. use the code LAURYNCAKES for 20% off your purchase at Fearless Tape!)

1. Secure your neckline

A daring neckline shouldn’t be daring because you’re risking of a nip slip or worse. In a low cut top double-sided tape can be applied to the inside of the upper seam of your top to keep your neckline secured. Fearless Tape is the best double sided tape for dresses because it sticks to anything without leaving a sticky residue or damaging the material. It’s also safe for skin and won’t cause irritation! Like any good pocket knife though, Fearless tape can be used in less formal situations and it can also be used to limit showing too much side-boob in tanks and sleeveless halter tops.

2. Fix a Lost Button

Use Fearless tape to substitute for a lost button in a pinch. As a control freak, I cannot afford to have the anxiety of worrying about all potential wardrobe malfunctions that could derail my schedule. That’s why I carry double-sided tape for clothes and fashion emergencies. Losing a blouse button at the wrong moment could mean you are now committed to holding your top closed to avoid showing too much skin or bra at a meeting, date, or family gathering; and let’s be honest your boyfriend’s uncle is weird enough without your top being open.

3. Secure a Button Placket on a Button-up or Blouse

Blouses are a mainstay in the closet of mothers, professionals, and style savvy women. Blouses, button-ups, and flannels are prone to opening along the button line and revealing more than planned. To prevent accidental gaps, peeking and exposure simply apply a piece of Fearless double-sided fashion tape to the inside of the button placket where the blouse is joined to create a secure closure. It is fabric-friendly and won’t rip or stain.

4. Add some traction to slip prone shoes

One of the daily perils of being a woman is walking in high heels. Most women don’t have to tell you that they don’t feel 100% confident walking on slick surfaces. A little water transforms a marble floor into an ice rink for working women wearing heels or a stairway into an ordeal. Fearless Tape can double as an extra layer of traction for the shoes you love but don’t fully trust. Simply peel a stick of double-sided tape and apply it to the sole of your shoe for an extra strip of grip.

5. Debulk a Pocket

Tailor-made clothing is a thing of beauty and compliments both the figure and personality of the wearer. For most of us, perfectly tailored pants are neither realistic nor plausible given our figure. Chinos, professional wear, and pantsuits often sport diagonal seam-style pockets that sometimes refuse to lay flat. This creates an awkward bulky look, and for me, I don’t need anything drawing more attention to my waistline. To solve this issue, Fearless tape can be applied to the interior of the pocket to keep things sleek, slim and secured. PRO TIP: Use Fearless Tape to flatten down the flap that covers your zipper!

6. Smooth a Lapel with Double-sided Fashion Tape

With the rise of fast fashion, the weight and quality of fabrics used in jackets, accessories and statement pieces is often compromised in lieu of a trendy and affordable style. Corners cut by manufacturers too often lead to minor fashion faux pas by consumers. I shouldn’t have to compromise my style and look slovenly because the material of my affordable clothing is lacking. A flyaway lapel or collar can turn a chic fashion forward business outfit into a sloppy disco themed nightmare. When lapels and collars refuse to lay flat, I use a small strip of double-sided fashion tape.

7. Create a Makeshift Lint Roller

As a cat owner, I own multiple lint rollers. I stash them near my front door, in my closet, in my car, and my desk at work. I love my kitty, but having his hair on my clothes is not an option. Sometimes though, I am rushing to a meeting or an appointment and I find kitty hair on my skirt with no lint roller in sight. A couple of strips of double-sided fashion tape is the perfect substitute because I already have it in my purse and I can spot check for kitty hair on the go. Simply wrap a couple of strips around your index and second finger and pat down the lint-covered areas of your sweater, skirt, or pants.

8. Keep a Belt in Place

Adding a belt to a tunic, loose dress, or long top can add a slimming effect on your waistline. But, getting creative and adding a belt to an outfit that doesn’t have belt loops can create its own issues when the end of your belt is flapping around loose. Tape that belt end in place with double sided tape (FUN FACT: Fearless Tape is 100% made in the USA!)

9. Add a Pant Cuff or Hem

Keeping fashion tape in your bag gives you the option to add a quick hem or cuff to pants on the fly. Why would you need to ever add a cuff to a pant or hem? If you break a heel on your shoes and end up with pants that would drag on the ground in other footwear then this is the perfect fix! Or perhaps you are no longer as confident in your cuff as you wear when you left your house in the morning. Whatever the situation is, you can be ready for it. To fix or add a hem simply cuff your pants to the right length and secure it with fashion tape along the inside seam.

10. Hide a Bra Strap

If having your bra strap show isn’t part of the plan double-sided tape can help you alter your outfit. Fearless tape sticks well to both skin and clothing. Use it to keep those bra straps in place on your shoulder and away from prying eyes when the situation doesn’t call for advertising anything but your top layer.

Bonus: Bows, Sashes, and Ties

I’ll be perfectly honest, tying a perfect bow isn’t something I advertise on my resume. Sometimes the ends come out crooked and don’t want to sit just right. If you don’t have the time, cell service, or discretion to load a Youtube tutorial on tying the perfect bow or sash you can use your Fearless tape to get things under control. Place a strip of fashion tape under the bow where needed so it lays just like you saw on Pinterest.

Yesssss! I love double sided fashion tape – I use mine to close that button down shirt gap with some of my shirts made by companies who don’t understand how boobs work (haha) and as a temporary hemming fix for some of my pants!
