The first few weeks of 2020, I have spent time reorganizing and decluttering out Downtown Salt Lake City apartment. With the new year and decade here, 2020 feels like the perfect time to refresh! Check out a video I made of my closet organization, and read on to find out more about the products I used.

Organizing Shelves and Drawers
Bathroom Organization
One of the areas in my house that gets messy the quickest is the bathroom counter! From skincare and makeup to hair product and hair tools, it’s hard to keep everything in order. For Christmas this year, I asked for a better way to organize my makeup and received this amazing clear organization kit. To arrange our hair products and styling tools, we used these plastic drawer sets that fit perfectly in below our sink, while this smaller container fits in our bathroom cabinet for hair accessories.
Closet & Bedroom Organization
Organizing closet and bedroom space poses a bit more of a challenge than the latter, but if you do it right, the results are amazing! Just as stated in my decluttering video, make sure that you go through and determine what clothing and jewelry you want to donate before you start your arranging. Spencer and I use a bookshelf to store our shoes in a more orderly fashion. For tall boots, cutting up pool noodles and placing them inside the shoes will help maintain their shape. If you have shelves in your closet, 16 qt plastic containers are a great way to store your pants and shirts! I use the Marie Kondo method of folding & place the items upright so that they can all be seen when I go to grab clothing.
Jewelry Decluttering
Most of my jewelry hangs out on top of my dresser in my bedroom. As a ring collector, I need space to keep each piece safe and organized! This black velvet ring display has never let me down! Similarly, my bracelets stay on a tiered velvet watch stand. If you own a lot of sunglasses like I do, the best way to display the glasses is on a nail polish rack hung on the wall! While I don’t have a specific hack of organizing my hats. I do hang them on the wall for display and safe keeping!
Items to Refresh your Home
Along with organizing my life, I have been cleaning and replacing items around my apartment! Watching my Lauryncakes Instastories, you have seen these items featured. The most asked about home tool featured on my stories has been this microwave cleaner. You place water, vinegar, and essential oil inside the tool & then run it though the microwave for easy clean up of food residue. The other most requested item link has been this razor tool that gets pills off your clothes an upholstery; it’s like magic and renews everything!
